Hypothetically Asked Questions
Are you for real?
God, I hope so. I’m certainly doing my best.
Are you listening?
No. These questions are only hypothetical.
Are you accepting submissions?
Not at this time. We have books in the pipeline all the way until end of 2026. Perhaps we’ll make it happen in 2027.
Will you ever actually put art on your art page?
I did!
Is it for sale?
no.
Your art page is kind of janky, and also it doesn’t completely make sense to have an art page for Scott Cannon because this is supposed to be a website about a publishing company.
Yes, but…
Then again, your art kind of has a janky vibe in the first place. You’re so obsessed with imperfection, that you end up working so hard to always make sure the imperfections in your art are obvious . Also, if you have vibe, it’s being unfocused.
Geez. I’m working on a new art page.
Yeah, sure. So anyway…. Favorite movie?
Favorite Movie?
The Living Wake. I can’t promote this movie enough, though I have nothing to do with it. It’s campy and silly and serious and heartfelt… a story about a pompous drunken fool of an artist facing his own mortality and ever-present daddy issues. I wonder why I like it. It’s free to watch on YouTube y’all.
Are you the Friendly Monster?
God, I hope not. Generally speaking, the trees are the friendly monsters.
Specifically, I have a memory from our first day in Portland, Illy still small enough to easily ride on my shoulders. We walked down SE Clinton St as a family and passed a giant redwood in someone’s front yard - Who ever saw such a thing? - and the world felt right. So that tree, that lives in my head and also in someone’s front yard, is the real Friendly Monster.
